With Sadness We Announce the Passing of Brenda Neil

It is with great sadness that Essex County and the League have learned of the passing of Brenda Neil on Wednesday, 22nd July.

Brenda enjoyed a distinguished career in Short Mat Bowls and was a highly respected member of the bowling community. She proudly represented Essex in the Inter-County Championships and achieved great success throughout her playing career. She was runner-up in the Essex County Fours Championship and was also runner-up on four occasions in the Essex Mixed Fours County Championship. Her outstanding performances earned her the honour of representing Essex at the ESMBA National Championships.

Brenda was also a loyal and valued member of Sanguine Short Mat Bowls Club, where she was a regular league player. She was admired not only for her skill on the green but also for her sportsmanship, friendship, and commitment to the club.

Brenda will be greatly missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with her family and friends at this sad time.

Funeral arrangements: 

Brenda's funeral will be held on Monday, 17th August, at 12:30 pm at St Nicholas Church, Laindon.

The service will be followed at Pitsea Cemetery, and then a gathering at Burstead Golf Club.
